She is an assistant professor at the Law School of the Torcuato Di Tella University. She received her PhD in Political Science from Columbia University in New York. She is also a magna cum laude lawyer from the Universidad de Los Andes, where she also received a Master's degree in Legal Theory. 

She was a Society of Fellows postdoctoral fellow and a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Princeton University from 2015 to 2017. She is a research associate at the Center for Justice Studies. Her fields of expertise are the comparative history of political and legal institutions, empirical legal studies, and political and constitutional theory. Her research topics include social mobilisation and movements, ethnic and peasant groups, property rights, transitional justice, violence, human rights, democracy and constitutionalism.

She has published articles in international journals such as Political Theory, Constellations and Law and Ethics of Human Rights, as well as in books published by Oxford, Cambridge University Press and Routledge. She has also coordinated and written several books in Spanish on transitional justice and human rights. She is currently working on a book in English on the comparative history of peasant mobilisation against land dispossession in Latin America. She also co-coordinates a project on participatory documentation methodologies for rights violations called Documenta desde Abajo.
